West Ham United have concluded a loan deal for Barcelona midfielder and former Arsenal ace Alex Song, according to reports in the press.

The Hammers were reported confirming the news via their official Twitter account, with their chairman David Gold also confirming it via his own account on the social networking website.

The 27 year old moved to Arsenal permanently in the summer of 2006, after spending a year on loan at the club, from Bastia. He spent a number of seasons at the north London club before eventually moving to Barcelona in 2012 for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £15m.

The Cameroonian ace, however, failed to carve out a regular place for himself in the Catalans’ first team, and was thus allowed to move to Upton Park on loan last season.

Song, who made 206 appearances for Arsenal during his association with the club, played 31 games for the Hammers last season, impressing with his performances for the side, which in turn had made them desperate to bring him to the club once again this season.

The Cameroonian ace, who is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, a holding midfielder or a centre back, was also known to be a target for the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Man City until sometime back.
