Lonwabo Tsotsobe captured his 200th first-class wicket on what was otherwise another tough day for South Africa A in their second four-day Test match against India A at the Krishnagiri Stadium in Wayanad on Wednesday.

India went to stumps on day two with a very healthy lead of 82 runs with four wickets still in hand.

Unlike the previous day with the South African batting, all of the Indian batsmen got into double figures with Abhinav Mkund making top score of 72 (136 balls, 13 fours) and Ambati Rayudu a more aggressive 71 (81 balls, 8 fours and 3 sixes). Both of them fell to Dane Piedt who, as the only specialist spinner in the South African team compared to the three fielded by India, had to carry the bulk of the bowling workload. He finished with 4/154 in 34 overs while Tsotsobe was the other successful bowler with 2/38 in 18 economical overs.

Beuran Hendricks only bowled three overs which was a further handicap to the South African bowling effort.

India’s strong position was set up by successive partnerships up front of 96 for the first wicket between Mukund and Jwanjot Singh (52 off 92 balls, 7 fours) and 72 for the second between Mukund and Baba Aparajith.
