India bounced back from their disappointing defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in the first Test at Galle by picking up a thumping 278 run win at the P Sara Oval in Colombo to level the series at 1-1.

Resuming from their overnight score of 72-2, Sri Lanka suffered a massive blow early in the day with Umesh Yadav getting rid of Angelo Mathews for 23 courtesy of an excellent catch from stand-in-keeper KL Rahul.

That set the stage for the Indian spinners to run through the Lankan middle order with Ravichandran Ashwin taking 5 wickets and Amit Mishra chipping in with another 3 as Sri Lanka were bowled out for just 134 with Dimuth Karunaratne top scoring with 46.

Dinesh Chandimal (15) and Lahiru Thirimanne (11) offered slight resistance, but the lower order fielded cheaply with no one else getting into double figures as India wrapped up the game shortly after lunch on Day 5.

It's over to the SSC next with these two sides battling it out in the series decider from Friday, 28th August.
