Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Danny Welbeck is still a few days away from returning to first team action.
Speaking to reporters during his press conference ahead of his side’s Emirates Cup match against Olympique Lyon, the Frenchman revealed that the former Manchester United striker ‘is not involved and still in full training’.
The 24 year old suffered a knee injury towards the end of the last season, with his last appearance for the club coming in their 0-0 home draw against Chelsea. The Englishman was, however, expected to become well soon, and his recuperation has certainly taken more time than initial estimation.
Moving on, Wenger also revealed that goalkeeper David Ospina would be returning on the 27th of this month, with club ace Alexis Sanchez coming back a week later. Both the players have been provided with an extended holiday this summer, due to the fact that they represented their respective countries Colombia and Chile in the Copa America sometime back. While Colombia crashed out of the tournament in the quarter finals, Chile went on to win it, with both the aforementioned players impressing during the competition.
Meanwhile, about the possibility of Mathieu Flamini playing, Wenger said: “Flamini has a little bit of a knock on his ankle but I will decide if I involve him or not over the weekend.”
