Liverpool managed to avoid a shock loss, courtesy of a Jordon Ibe screamer, after being a goal down, to manage a 1-1 draw against Malaysia XI in their pre-season friendly match at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

The hosts went ahead in the 13th minute when Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh scored a beautiful goal, shooting from the outside of his foot.

However, it was a fabulous goal by Ibe that stole the show. The 19 year old, who is touted to be Raheem Sterling’s successor at the Merseyside club, got the ball on the right wing and he dribbled past one defender before shooting the ball into the top right corner of the goal. The opposition keeper did manage to get a hand on the ball, but his touch wasn’t enough to prevent his side from conceding.

The rest of the game saw both the sides creating chances; however, none of them really managed to build on them, and the match ended with a scoreline of 1-1.

While Liverpool do take back a big positive from the game, in the form of Ibe’s performance, the fact remains that fans would like them to show more dominance on field, even during friendly encounters, especially against teams they would be expected to beat.
