Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is certainly leaving no stone unturned in strengthening the youth ranks of his club. According to reports in The Metro, the Blues have now made an approach to sign young forward Leon Bailey, who plies his trade at Slovakian side Trencin.

The 17 year old Jamaican, who has represented his country at the Under 23 level, is considered a fast developing forward, who is expected to turn out to become one of the hottest youth strikers in Europe in due course. The youngster, who has been endorsed by Nike recently, is also thus believed to be a target for Manchester United and Ajax, with an unnamed Belgian club reportedly showcasing a keen interest in landing him on loan this summer.

It is believed that the Blues will be sending their scouts to keep tabs on the player when Trencin meet Romanian side Steaua Bucharest for their Champions League qualification matches in the coming days. And if the club are able to land him this summer, it is believed that he will be sent on loan to the Blues’ new feeder club Royal Mouscron in Belgium.

It is understood that the west Londoners had also tried signing the player when he had moved to Trencin from Phoenix All Stars football academy earlier this year.

Meanwhile, it is believed that Trencin would be open to the prospect of selling the player for a transfer fee of around £1m this summer.
