A fantastic unbeaten innings of 91 from just 54 balls by Rajasthan Royals opener Ajinkya Rahane propelled the team back to the top of the Indian Premier League standings with 14 points from 11 games. Rahane shared an excellent 113 run partnership with Karun Nair for the second wicket with the latter also making a very impressive 61 from 38 balls to power the Royals to an impressive 189-2 from their 20 overs at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

The total proved to be too much for the Delhi Daredevils to chase down as they fell 14 runs shy, finishing with a competitive 175-7 courtesy a good half-century from JP Duminy and a welcome return to competitive match play for southpaw Saurabh Tiwary, who chipped in with an unbeaten 28 from 14 balls.

James Faulkner, Stuart Binny and Dhawal Kulkarni all made handy contributions with the ball for the Royals, taking 2 wickets apiece to deliver them a much needed win after a string of successive defeats.

The Delhi Daredevils meanwhile will be disappointed at having missed out on an opportunity to climb to third place in the standings, and stay third from bottom with just a point continuing to separate 5 teams in the middle of the table.
