It was a disappointing Sunday for the fans of the Indian Premier League as a washout in Kolkata was followed by an early knockout in Delhi with the Royal Challengers Bangalore wiping the floor with the Daredevils in a no-contest.

The Royal Challengers won the toss and chose to send the Delhi Daredevils in, a fantastic decision with the benefit of hindsight.

A first ball duck for Shreyas Iyer, leg before to Mitchell Starc, was followed by a brief partnership between Mayank Agarwal (27) and skipper JP Duminy (13). The duo added 34 runs for the second wicket before the latter was caught behind by compatriot David Wiese.

Varun Aaron then struck a decisive double blow for the Bangalore side as he dismissed Yuvraj Singh (2) and Angelo Mathews (0) on successive deliveries. At 39-4, Delhi were in big trouble, and despite the best efforts of Kedhar Jadhav, who top scored with 33, the Daredevils failed to make it past the hundred run mark.

Chasing just 96 to win. RCB decided to make a statement, chasing down the target in just 10.3 overs with Chris Gayle smashing an unbeaten 62 from just 40 balls, while Virat Kohli made a useful 35 from 23 balls at the other end as Bangalore stormed to a 10 wicket win, thus boosting their net run rate in the process.

Mini Scorecard:

Delhi Daredevils 95 all out (18.2 overs, 5.18rpo)

K Jadhav 33 (29) M Starc 3-20 (4)
