Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling has revealed that he has turned down a new £100,000-a-week deal at Anfield, whilst making it clear that he is not running after money, but that he wishes to win more trophies in his career.

The youngster was quoted by BBC Sport, saying: "It's not about the money at all. It's never been about money. I talk about winning trophies throughout my career. That's all I talk about. I don't talk about how many cars I'm going to drive, how many houses I've got. I just purely want to be the best I can be. I don't want to be perceived as a money-grabbing 20-year-old. I just want to be seen as a kid who loves to play football and to do the best for the team."

Sterling also revealed that if he was offered a new contract this time last season, when Liverpool were looking one of the favourites to win the Premier League title, he would have surely signed it...possibly even for much less salary than what he is being offered now.

The Reds last won a trophy in 2012, when they won the League Cup.

Moving on, Sterling has been linked with a number of clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich this season. Speaking on the matter, the Englishman said that he wishes to subdue all those rumours. He pointed out that maybe the public views him as a ’20-year-old boy being greedy’. The youngster then said that he wishes to contemplate on what he has achieved in his career so far, and what would be the best step for him from now on, to become a better player.

Sterling also said that it was "quite flattering" to be linked with Arsenal; however, he added that he is not thinking about that at present and that he wishes to do his best in his side’s next game, which is against the same opposition. Sterling also added that he at least wishes to win the FA Cup this season.
