Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has sounded a warning to French side Monaco ahead of the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie between the sides.

The Gunners lost the first leg match 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium, and Ozil has said that the team are determined to win the second leg, and will fight from the first minute till the very end.

The 26 year old was quoted telling reporters: “We want to fight and battle from the first minute until the last.  This is a match we are determined to win. We have to score three goals and our aim is to do just that.”

Ozil also said that they are hoping to disrupt the rhythm of the Monaco players, and that they will try to score as early as possible in the game. He, however, admitted that it would be a difficult prospect to score thrice against them, given the fact that they have defended solidly in the Champions League so far.

The German star, nevertheless, added that Arsenal’s recent few matches have shown that the players have it in them to make that possible, and progress to the quarter finals of the competition. He pointed out that despite the need to score early, the side will remain patient. He also spoke of his belief in the side, saying that if they play as they are capable of, they would surely progress to the next round.

Ozil also admitted that his side’s 2-1 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup was an important result for them. He said that the team controlled the game completely, and that they deserved to win the match. He also said that the result was a proof of the fact that if the players play according to how manager Arsene Wenger encourages them to, they can surely have their way.

Speaking of Chelsea’s shock exit from the Champions League, Ozil said that in football even unlikely things can very well happen.
