Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal provided some team updates during the pre-match press conference ahead of his side’s Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. The Dutchman revealed that defender Marcos Rojo will have to overcome a ‘minor’ problem to make it to the matchday squad for the game. LvG hinted that he may even decide against selecting the Argentine for the match, but that he will make up his mind later.

Van Gaal was quoted telling reporters: "Rojo is a little bit injured and you have to take care of the health of players. He has a minor problem. Maybe I take him out of the game against Tottenham but I have to decide."

Should Rojo fail to make it to the starting XI for the match, the manager may decide to start with the duo of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, with Jonny Evans out with a 6-match ban for his involvement in a spitting incident.

Meanwhile, LvG also revealed that forward Robin van Persie will not be playing a part in the match. The striker suffered an ankle injury towards the end of his side’s 2-1 defeat at Swansea City last month, and has since remained out of action, missing 3 matches already. And should the player fail to recuperate soon, he may also be forced to stay out of the side’s trip to Liverpool next week.
