Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers tried to take positives from his side’s 0-0 draw at home against Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup Quarter Final tie between the sides. He pointed out that it was good to keep a clean sheet in the match and that the side are still big on confidence.

The Northern Irishman was quoted telling reporters after the game: "We kept a clean sheet and still have big confidence. We just lacked that final ball. We don't play until next Monday and that gives us a chance to prepare well. They put so much into the game but couldn't find the breakthrough."

Rodgers admitted that it has been difficult for the top flight sides to notch up favourable results whilst playing against Championship teams in the Cup. He gave Blackburn all the credit for their good display. However, the boss also heaped praise on his own players, saying that they kept on trying to create chances despite missing sharpness in front of the goal.

The Northern Irishman also said that their objective this week ‘was to get four points out of six in the league and get into the next round of the FA Cup’, and although they couldn’t manage to progress to the next round of the Cup, they are still very much in the competition. He said that the side will try to get into the semi-finals when they face the Rovers at Ewood Park.

Rodgers also spoke of the lack of penalty awarded when Adam Lallana was tackeld roughly by Matt Kilgallon early on in the game.
