Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that Monaco will be a difficult side to break down when his side face them in the Champions League round of 16 tie between the sides later today.

The Frenchman was quoted telling reporters during the pre-match press conference: "It's an interesting game and I'm happy Monaco are back at the top level but now I'm focused on the game. They are a disciplined team who are very strong in defence, well organised and dangerous on the break."

Wenger also said that he loves being under pressure because there is a lot at stake during such situations, and that it is during these times that people want to be involved in the game as a manager and a player. He spoke of Arsenal’s record in the Champions League, saying that this season in their 17th consecutive one in the competition.

The Frenchman then said that although no games in the competition are easy ones, his side are confident of progressing to the next round because they have won their recent games, and have the ‘right commitment and spirit.’

This is the first time that both these sides are meeting each other in the Champions League. It is also the first time in 10 years that Monaco have qualified for the knockout stages of the competition.
