A fantastic late interception by rookie Malcolm Butler enabled the New England Patriots to defeat the Seattle Seahawks to 28-24 to win Super Bowl XLIX.

The dramatic game saw the Seahawks make two comebacks, from 7-0 and 14-7 down to lead 24-14. On the other hand, the Patriots too created history when they came back from being 24-14 down to win the match, becoming the first team in Super Bowl history to trail by 10 or more points in the second half and still win the match.

The star of the game was Patriot quarterback Tom Brady, who threw 4 touchdown passes during the match, which included a winning three-yard pass to Julian Edelman towards the end. Brady was adjudged the most valuable player of the match, for the 3rd time in his career, and he also broke Joe Montana’s Super Bowl touchdown passes, notching up figures of 13 in his entire career till now.

Speaking to reporters, Brady said: "This has been a long journey. I've been at it for 15 years. This one came down to the end and this time, we made the plays. Our defense, what can you say about them? Malcolm, what a play. For a rookie to make a play like that and win us the Super Bowl is unbelievable."

The win was the Patriots’ first Super Bowl victory in 10 years. Additionally, it was Brady’s 4th Super Bowl victory, with only two other quarterbacks, Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw, having done so before.
