Popular Indian Premier League side Kings XI Punjab booked their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League T20 with a crushing 120 run win over the Northern Districts.

Having been invited to bat first, Kings XI put the game out of sight of the New Zealand champions by posting a mammoth 215 runs on the board. A century stand in just about 8 overs for the opening wicket between Man of the Match Manan Vohra (65 from 32 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes) and Virender Sehwag (52 from 37 balls with 6 fours and 1 six) set the stage for the hosts, who after a brief hiccup in the middle overs finished strongly as well with David Miller smashing 40 from 18 balls.

The Northern Districts in contrast were only very briefly in the run chase with Anton Devcich (28) and Kane Williamson (20) giving their side some early impetus. However, the duo fell within 6 balls of each other and with them the Kiwis' hopes evaporated.

Karanveer Singh (4-15) and Akshar Patel (2-16) proved unplayable for the Northern Districts middle order, and the hosts scripted an early finish by bowling the Kiwi side out in just the 16th over.

Kings XI Punjab have one more group game to come against the Cape Cobras, with the latter side still chasing a semi-final berth, thus ensuring the game will not be a dead rubber. The Cape Cobras stunned the Barbados Trident in a one-over eliminator earlier today.
