Liverpool have been linked with an audacious offer for Barcelona's combative full-back Dani Alves. According to reports in Mundo Deportivo, the Brazil international, who is in his last year of contract at the Camp Nou, could be roped in to replace Glen Johnson, who is in his last year of contract at Anfield.

Barcelona are expected to undergo an across the board change in personnel following the arrival of new manager Luis Enrique from Celta de Vigo. The Catalan giants have spent well over £120 million in the transfer market to recruit the likes of Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic, with more deals waiting in the pipeline. It stands to reason that there will be a change in guard under new stewardship and Enrique could very well give the more defensive minded Martin Montoya the green light ahead of Alves.

Paris Saint-Germain have already come calling for Alves, but were turned back by UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations. Liverpool are believed to be offering Barcelona £5 million for the 31 year old right back. Alves on his part might just be tempted to play out his swansong with one of the biggest clubs in the world, competing at the highest level.
