Just two days after winning her first WTA title, Eugenie Bouchard was back on the court Monday in Paris to play her first round match at Roland-Garros.

Bouchard took on Israel’s Shahar Peer for a fourth time after winning the first three meetings between the two players. The tournament’s no. 18 seed led 6-0, 4-1 when rain forced play to be stopped. She picked up right where she left off when she returned to the court to close out an impressive 6-0, 6-2 win in 59 minutes. Bouchard advances to the second round of the French Open for the second straight year. In 2013, she scored her first Grand Slam main draw win in Paris before falling to Maria Sharapova in round two. This year, the new world no. 16 will face Julia Goerges of Gernany in the second round.

Sharon Fichman started her match against Serbian Jelena Jankovic, but the incoming darkness didn’t seem to affect her. The Canadian was the first to break serve at 5-5 in the first and served out the set to lead 7-5. Jankovic turned the tables in the second set and led 5-1 when play was suspended for the day because of darkness. They will complete the match on Tuesday.

Vasek Pospisil was looking for his first victory since Australian Open, but i twill have to wait as he fell 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 to world no. 60 Teymuraz Gabashvili of Russia.

Aleksandra Wozniak will play her first round match on Tuesday after it was cancelled today. She will face Romania’s Sorana Cirstea
