Match 9 of the IPL 2014 will see a red hot Kings XI Punjab side clash with the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday, the 22nd of April, at Sharjah. The small boundaries at Sharjah makes at an ideally suited ground for big scores as seen earlier in the tournament, and one reckons that this contest could turn out to be one between the Kings XI Punjab’s swashbuckling batting and the Sun Risers’ attacking bowling units.

Punjab’s power house batting with the likes of Glenn Maxwell,  George Bailey and David Miller in red hot form makes the team look unassailable, but if ever there was a bowling unit capable of keeping Punjab in check, it would most definitely be the Sunrisers’ outfit that boasts of a bowling line up with the likes of Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ishant Sharma in it.

While Punjab have made a reputation for themselves by chasing two huge totals to win their first two games against the likes of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, the Sun Risers have been known to  defend even modest totals with a similar bowling attack last season.

The Sunrisers’ batting though is a bit top heavy with the likes of David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan and Aaron Finch all at the top of the order, which means that those top 3 will need to mix caution with aggression to make sure that they post a good enough total for their bowlers to defend.

The wicket at Sharjah, although slow in nature, has not presented the batsmen with too many alarms, which should make for yet another high scoring contest.

Likely Teams:

SRH: A Finch, S Dhawan (c), D Warner, KL Rahul (wk), D Sammy, Venugopal Rao, K Sharma, D Steyn, A Mishra, B Kumar, I Sharma

KXIP: C Pujara, V Sehwag, W Saha (wk), G Maxwell, D Miller, G Bailey (c), M Johnson, M Kartik, A Patel, P Awana, L Balaji
