Morata will not switch to Arsenal

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has said that Alvaro Morata will not be joining Arsenal this winter. The Italian was quoted in The Metro, saying: “We have not changed our idea at all. Morata stays here and he has not told us that he wants to leave.” Meawhile, reports in The Daily Mirror reveal that the Gunners are still hot on the trail of the highly rated youngster.

Defoe move confirmed

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed Jermain Defoe’s move to MLS side Toronto FC. The club tweeted on its official twitter page: ‘We have reached agreement with Toronto FC for the transfer of Jermain Defoe to the MLS side, with effect from February 28, 2014’.

Gunners eye Giovinco

Arsenal are understood to be keeping tabs on Juventus’ Sebastian Giovinco, reports The Metro. The north Londoners are in search of a replacement for Theo Walcott, who is set to remain out of action for a period of nearly six months at least.

The boss was quoted in The Metro, saying: “I really want to put him on the stage when he’s ready to perform rather than let people judge him when he’s really half-cocked. He won’t be leaving on loan in this transfer window.”

Milan want Essien

AC Milan are considering taking Chelsea’s Michael Essien on loan, reports Gazzetta dello Sport. The Ghanaian has failed to notch up regular appearances at Stamford Bridge and is believed to be desperate for a move. Meanwhile, reports in The Daily Mirror suggest that the player may be on his way to Middle Eastern club Al Ain, who are ready to offer him a lucrative deal.

Zaha edges closer to Cardiff move

Manchester United’s Wilfried Zaha is on the brink of a move to Cardiff City, reports The Daily Mirror. The youngster, who was at the club on Friday night to agree upon a deal, will move to the Welsh side on a six-month loan contract.

We’ve got a lot of goalscoring options. Gylfi Sigurdsson, we know he has an eye for a goal. We’ve got enough goals from around different positions around the squad."

De Bruyne may leave but Hazard won’t

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said that while Kevin de Bruyne may move away from the club this month, Eden Hazard will not do so. The Portuguese was quoted in The Metro, saying: “The club bought him [De Bruyne] a few years ago for a small fee and now we have the possibility to sell him for a positive amount... Eden is not leaving.”

Former Crystal Palace forward Kevin Phillips has advised Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney to move to Chelsea. The 40 year old was quoted in The Daily Mirror, saying: “He has had a fantastic time at Man United but I think, deep down, Wayne wants to leave the football club and Chelsea would be a good fit.”
