Netball: Australia come from behind to beat England in thriller

Australia has claimed the most dramatic of victories with a thrilling 49-48 win over England at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games on Saturday.

After trailing at every stoppage, Australia came from behind early in the fourth quarter before shooter Caitlin Bassett scored with 10 seconds remaining to seal the gripping contest.

CWG 2014: Nanjappa settles for Silver in 10m Air Pistol

38 year old Prakash Nanjappa narrowly missed out on getting a Gold Medal in the Men's 10m Air Pistol event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games as an errant 13th shot in the competition, a 7.7 came back to haunt him in the end.

Nanjaappa, who topped the qualification rounds earlier in the day, was top of the leaderboard for large periods before one poor shot sent him catapulting down the field into third place. Fortunately for the experienced Indian he was able to reclaim his poise and edge out veteran Englishman Michael Gault for the Silver medal with two excellent late shots, a 10.9 and 10.7 to bridge the gap to leader Dan Repacholi of Australia.

Blue skies and bright sunshine presented an idyllic backdrop, as a bright pink puff of clay decided the gold medallist of the match.

Coles displayed nerves of steel and she breezed through the entire competition, maintaining her dominance in Women’s Skeet.

CWG 2014: Abhinav Bindra wins Gold again

India's most decorated shooter Abhinav Bindra showed predictable poise to storm to another Gold medal winning performance in the Men's 10m Air Rifle Final at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. There was to be some disappointment though for India as Ravi Kumar, who led the competition through the first 12 rounds was forced to settle for fourth place losing in a shoot-off to Britain's Dan Rivers.

It was Ravi Kumar who set the early pace in the competition, showing tremendous form in the opening set of rounds taking a comfortable lead. Abhinav Bindra soon moved into second place behind his compatriot and the duo started distancing themselves from the chasing pack. However, a poor 13th shot from Kumar, a 9.1 started the slide for the 24 year old, who seemed to lose his poise and produced a number of poor shots back to back to drop down the field.

CWG 2014: 16 year old Malaika Goel wins Shooting Silver

India's 16 year old shooting sensation Malaika Goel won the Silver medal in the Women's Air Pistol Final at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, losing out to Shun Xie Teo of Singapore in a close contest today. Goel, hailing from Amritsar, scored 197.1 to Teo's 198.6.

Malaika, who was fourth in the qualifying rounds with a score of 378 had a 2.2 point lead over Teo heading into the second round of the Finals, but the Singaporean shooter bridged the gap steadily before jumping into the lead with her 16th shot. Canada's Dorothy Ludwig won the bronze medal with a score of 177.2 bowing out in the 8th round.
