While most would agree that Chelsea’s record setting £50 million adventure in Fernando Torres hasn’t been a jaw dropping success, the Blues are looking to wipe out past mistakes with promises of even bigger risks. Jose Mourinho has had an indifferent start to his second coming as Chelsea manager and the ‘Special One’ has earmarked Radamel Falcao as just what the doctor ordered to get the party started.

Reports in the Mirror suggest that the Portuguese manager is plotting a £60 million swoop for the Colombian hotshot this winter. In fact Mourinho even intends to watch the Monaco man in action while on international duty against Belgium this Thursday in order to make up his mind on another record breaking Chelsea bid.

Falcao chose newly ordained rich boys Monaco this summer, to the surprise of many as he had some of Europe’s bigger boys wooing him for his services. Mourinho has been searching for a striker ever since he returned as Chelsea boss. Unable to acquire the services of either Wayne Rooney or Robert Lewandowski, the ‘Special One’ finally settled in on old protégé Samuel Eto’o and although Eto’o has scored 3 goals in his last 2 games, at 32 he can no longer be considered a long term solution to the Blues’ striking woes.
