Nouveau riche, French club AS Monaco are all set to beat the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool to the signing of Atletico Madrid’s winger Arda Turan to add to their already enormous arsenal of players.

Turan, who joined Atletico from Galatasaray in the summer of 2011 for 12 million euros, making him the most expensive Turkish player of all time, has been a revelation for the RojiBlancos since. He was one of their key performers together with star goal-scorer Radamel Falcao leading the club to successful Europa League and Copa Del Rey campaigns in the past couple of seasons.

And now, the Ligue 1 side is looking to recreate that deadly duo again having already purchased the Colombian and are lining up a bid of £14.5 million for Turan.

The newly promoted French side has already acquired Eric Abidal, Jeremy Toulalan, James Rodriguez, Joao Moutinho, Ricardo Carvalho and Radamel Falcao owing to the riches of their Russian fertilizer tycoon Dmitry Rybolovlev.

If reports from Spanish channel Cuatro are to be believed, Monaco have bid enough to secure the services of the Turkish winger, but Atletico may insist on holding out for a higher fee, close to the player’s release clause believed to be around 20 million pounds.

The 26 year old scored 5 goals and set up a further 8 in 41 appearances last season as the Estadio Vicente Calderon based club took home the Copa Del Rey trophy beating arch rivals Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu for the first time since 1999.
