Ed Woodward back in England, United gearing up for their first major signing this season
Manchester United are gearing up for their first signing of the David Moyes Era, after it was reported that the Red Devils’ Chief Executive Ed Woodward has flown back to England from the club’s pre-season tour to conduct ‘urgent transfer business’. Reports in The Metro suggests that the signing may be in the form of Leighton Baines or Marouane Fellaini, as the club have been involved in close talks with Everton for the last couple of days. The Daily Mirror though believes that United are swooping for Gareth Bale, and have tabled a £60m bid for the Tottenham winger.
Real Madrid following Aguero with hungry eyes
Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero has returned to the top of Real Madrid’s shopping list, Spanish paper AS has reported. The Argentine is in danger of losing his first team place to either Alvaro Negredo or Stevan Jovetic, with both players on the verge of completing a move to the Etihad Stadium in a couple of days. Meanwhile, Real Madrid have also displayed keen interest in the player following the uncertainty surrounding Gonzalo Higuain’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

And on the subject of Gonzalo Higuain, Real Madrid are looking to cash in big on the Argentine international. Seeing that aspirants Napoli and Arsenal are flush with funds, Florentino Perez has decided to place a whopping £37m price tag on the player's head according to reports in the Times.
Giroud welcomes the prospect of playing alongside Suarez
Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud has welcomed the very prospect of playing alongside Liverpool striker Luis Suarez by saying that the two can have a very good relationship on the pitch. The Frenchman was quoted telling L’Equipe: “I could have a good relationship with Suarez on the pitch. So I am for Suarez’s arrival. I’m not afraid of competition.” Arsenal have joined the race for the Uruguayan’s signature to bolster their strike-force but would find it tough to lure him to the Emirates due to competition from Real Madrid and Chelsea. Shock for Chelsea as Hulk about to join Monaco
Chelsea fans are in for some bad news this week as Blues target Hulk is on the verge of completing a massive £52m move to Ligue 1 side Monaco (who also staged a coup for Radamel Falcao, some weeks ago), according to reports by Radio Monte Carlo. The Brazilian had been on the transfer agenda of Jose Mourinho since quite some time with the Portuguese keen to bolster his attack force this summer. Hulk was linked to a move to Stamford Bridge last season also, but Zenit snatched the 26 year old from under the nose of the Blues.
Meireles to return to the Premier League
Portuguese international Raul Meireles, who played for both Chelsea and Liverpool in the Premier League, is poised for a shock return to the country with Sunderland according to reports in the Daily Mail. Meireles currently plies his trade with Turkish giants Fenerbahce. Meanwhile Sunderland's clear out looks set to continue with TalkSPORT reporting the Sebastian Larsson could be heading to Italy to join Lazio.
Downing to stay on despite West Ham interest
Liverpool winger Stewart Downing has no plans of leaving the Merseyside club this season, despite vehement interest from West Ham who are keen to reunite him with former teammate Andy Carroll at Upton Park. Downing was quoted in The Daily Express, saying: "I want it to continue. It's why I came here, to play in a successful team." The 28 year old, who was a firm favourite of previous manager Kenny Dalglish, has not quite been able to cement his place in the Reds’ first team under Brendan Rodgers.
Chelsea moving closer to Bruma deal
West London outfit Chelsea are reported to be closing in on a deal to bring 18 year old Sporting Lisbon winger Bruma to Stamford Bridge in the next few days. The player’s agent Catio Balde was quoted in The Metro, saying: “It is not a pleasant situation for a young man to be in when there is a tug-of-war. But I think the coming days there will be news.” Bruma was earlier reported having snapped all his professional ties with his club, to possibly facilitate a move to the Premier League this summer.
Liverpool planning to lure Morata to Anfield with a £6m bid
Liverpool are hoping to land Real Madrid’s sensational youngster Alvaro Morata at Anfield this season, courtesy of a £6m bid, reports The Metro. The 20 year old is on the agenda of Reds boss Brendan Rodgers for a long time and Luis Suarez’s imminent departure has led to the Irishman displaying serious interests in the Spaniard. Meanwhile, Morata is expected to decide on his future in the next couple of days and has been contemplating a move to England.
Aston Villa demand 25% of sell-on fee for Benteke
Aston Villa have demanded a 25% sell-on fee for Christian Benteke if potential suitors Tottenham Hotspur fail to shell out £26m for the forward, reports The Metro. It is further reported that Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy might be ready to offer one of Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Scott Parker, Jake Livermore and Kyle Naughton along with £20m for the Belgian striker, who is also being pursued by West London side Chelsea.
Premier League clubs interested in Lyon duo
Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon’s duo of Bafetimbi Gomis and Jimmy Briand have attracted the attention of Premier League sides, after being transfer listed, according to reports in The Daily Express. While Newcastle United has displayed an interest in Gomis, PL new boys Hull City are planning to make a move for Briand. Both players though are keen to play for a Champions League qualified club post transfer.
Liverpool's forgotten striker on his way out
22 year old Liverpool striker Dani Pacheco could be the latest casualty of the Brendan Rodgers era with the Daily Mail reporting that the player is surplus to requirements at Anfield and could be sold to Spanish side Celta Vigo.

United will not get Fabregas says Wenger
Arsene Wenger has dismissed rumours that Manchester United will sign former Gunners skipper Cesc Fabregas. Wenger is quoted in the Daily Mirror as having said, Wenger said: “At the moment, Fabregas has decided to stay one more year at Barcelona. We have the clause in the contract so we would be on alert but at the moment that’s not something we’re after.” (read more)
