Arsenal have handed a trial to highly rated Colombian midfielder Sebastian Perez, who plays for local club side Atletico Nacional, the Metro reports. Perez, who became the youngest player to win the Liga Postobon, is also thought to be held in high regard by Serie A winners Juventus and Ligue 1 champions PSG.

Perez was observed by Arsenal scouts while representing Colombia at the Under 20 World Cup, and has been offered a trial at the club, Atletico Nacional’s President has confirmed. Despite his relative inexperience, it is thought that Arsenal will have to shell out 5 million pounds for the youngster. If manager Arsene Wenger is sufficiently impressed with Perez’s ability in training, the fee, however, will not be a barrier, and will represent the Frenchman’s continuing commitment to developing superstars from the ground up.

It is also interesting to note that despite being handed a sizeable transfer budget with the license to spend on established players, Wenger continues to also place his faith in youngsters to carry the Gunners forward. For Perez, a move to Arsenal would allow him the opportunity to showcase his talent on a much bigger stage, while being mentored by one of the finest developers of young talent.

One does hope though that the youngster doesn't struggle with work permit issues like his Latin American predecessors Carlos Vela and most recently Joel Campbell, who had to be shipped off on loan to other countries as soon as they were signed by Arsenal.
