Schurrle deal to Chelsea is almost done
Andre Schurrle has been the subject of much speculation and rumour as Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen played poker over the player’s future. But looks like the Blues were finally dealt a winning hand as the German Express claims that a €20million deal has been agreed between the two clubs for the attacking midfielder. Talks will also be held for the transfer of Kevin de Bruyne on a season-long loan spell to the German club with reports suggesting Borussia Dortmund are also keen on the youngster. Schurrle would become the first signing of the new Jose Mourinho era at Stamford Bridge. (read more)
Arsenal begin clear-out as Arshavin, Squillaci and Denilson are released
Arsene Wenger may have produced a number of world class players but the Arsenal manager is also responsible for some of the worst signings. But the Frenchman has started to undo his mistakes by clearing out the deadwood at the club as the Sun understands that the Gunners have released Andrei Arshavin, Sebastien Squillaci and Denilson with all three players running out of contract at the end of the month. The release of out-of-favor players allows Wenger more room in the squad and money for new signings with a reported £100million available at his disposal. A statement by the club said, “Everyone at Arsenal would like to wish Andrey, Denilson and Sebastien all the very best."
Mourinho linked with Ibrahimovic bid
Jose Mourinho may have been Chelsea manager for only a few days now but the Portuguese is already planning a serious assault on clubs across Europe as he looks to strengthen the Blues’ attack. And the latest name to come out of the rumour-mill is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. According to the Express, the Swede is likely to leave PSG this summer after guiding the club to their first French Ligue 1 title in 19 years with a move back to Italy being his preferred choice. But Mourinho could follow up on his interest in Ibrahimovic and the striker’s move to Stamford Bridge could pave the way for Fernando Torres to leave. (read more)
Aston Villa put £40million price tag on Benteke
Christian Benteke has emerged as the surprise package during this summer’s transfer window with Arsenal, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid willing to splash the cash for the Belgian. But Aston Villa are desperate to keep hold of their prized asset and have reportedly attached a £40million price tag on the 22-year old, the Mirror claims. Atletico are prepared to offer £25million for Benteke as they search for a replacement for Radamel Falcao, while Tottenham are ready to include Jermain Defoe in a cash-plus-player deal. Aston Villa are also doing their part to extend Benteke’s stay at the club with a new deal in the offering.
Juventus target Tevez as back-up option for Jovetic
Stevan Jovetic is a wanted man in Europe with Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea chasing the Montenegrin international. And the Serie A Champions are already planning if they miss out on the Fiorentina striker as the Daily Mail reports that Juventus will step up their interest in Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez is they are beaten in the race for Jovetic. Tevez has one year left on his contract at the Etihad and the Argentine has expressed his desire to not sign a new deal. Chelsea lead the chase for £30million-rated Jovetic and Juventus want Tevez to lad their attack next season.
Chelsea turn to Hulk after missing out on Falcao
Chelsea are not used to being beaten in the transfer market with the club getting the players they want. But Monaco has become the new villains at Stamford Bridge after prising away Radamel Falcao from the Blues’ clutches and the Mirror reports that Jose Mourinho has now turned his attention to former Chelsea target Hulk and is ready to make a £35million move for the Brazilian. Hulk was chased by the Europa League Champions last summer but the move could not materialize due to Porto’s asking price of £40million. Zenit St Petersburg snapped up the 26-year old but the player’s first season in Russia has been far from trouble-free and Chelsea now hope to take advantage of the Brazilian’s situation.
Liverpool could lose Ilori to Valencia
Tiago Ilori has established himself as a proven performer at Sporting Lisbon and the 20-year old has been tipped to replace Jamie Carragher at Liverpool. After Liverpool’s £3.5million bid was rejected last week by Sporting, the Mirror understands that La Liga club Valencia have swooped in and are ready to hold talks with the player. Brendan Rodgers was targeting Ilori as part of his summer revamp of the squad with defence being a high priority and the Liverpool manager was prepared to offer Ilori a starting place in the Reds squad next season.
West Ham offer Carroll £100,000-a-week to complete transfer
Andy Carroll has been the surprise package in the transfer market with clubs paying over-the-board to acquire his services. After becoming the most expensive British transfer following his £35million move to Liverpool, the striker is set to be the subject of another hefty money deal as the Daily Mail reports that West Ham United are prepared to offer £100,000-a-week in salary to the England international for the next 6 years. The Hammers had reportedly agreed a £15.5million deal with Liverpool for making Carroll’s move to Upton Park permanent but the player has yet to agree to the terms of the deal and West Ham want Carroll to make a decision in the coming weeks so they can focus on other transfer targets.
Chelsea favourites to land Partizan wonderkid Markovic
Lazar Markovic may only be 19 years old but the Partizan Belgrade winger made his senior international debut for Serbia 2 years ago and is being tracked by a number of clubs across Europe. But the Mirror reports that Chelsea lead the chase for Markovic and Jose Mourinho’s return as Blues manager may help push the deal into fast-track. Markovic also admitted that he is open to a move to the Premier League, “A lot of people say that maybe I’m not suited to the English league. But I can tell you that I love the Premier League and I see it as an ideal stage for me.”
Arsenal linked with Freiburg youngster Matthias Ginter
Despite repeated claims by Arsene Wenger that he has a truck load of cash to spend in the transfer market, the Arsenal manager continues to chase young unknown talent and the latest name to attract Wenger’s interest is Freiburg midfielder Matthias Ginter. According to the Mirror, Wenger had the 19year old defensive midfielder scouted a number of times last season and is considering a move for the player who could cost £5 million. Despite the player’s talent, Ginter’s signing may not go down well with the club’s fans who want the manager to sign established stars. (read more)
West Ham sign Real Betis goalkeeper Adrian
The Daily Star reports that West Ham have completed the signing of Real Betis goalkeeper Adrian on a free transfer with the 26-year old set to battle with Jussi Jaaskelainen for the club’s No.1 spot. The Spaniard said about his move to the Hammers, “I am extremely happy and ecstatic to have joined such an historical club. I am really looking forward to being able to kick-off my career in the best league in the world with West Ham.”
Fulham complete deal for Stekelenburg
Another goalkeeper has arrived in the Premier League as Fulham have completed the signing of Maarten Stekelenburg from Roma on a 4-year deal and the Netherlands international will reunite with his former manager Martin Jol at Craven Cottage, the Independent reports. Stekelenburg’s arrival will cast doubts over the future of Mark Schwarzer who is unlikely to renew his contract with the Cottagers. Stekelenburg talked about his move to Fulham as he said, “It's good that I'll be joining Martin again. He knows my capabilities very well, so I am just looking forward to joining up with the team in pre-season and enjoying some time with them prior to the new season starting. I am very happy to be joining Fulham and to have everything sorted out so early in the summer, so I can really focus on preparations for playing in the Barclays Premier League next season."
