This time last year, Daniel Agger, Liverpool’s Danish center back, was being linked with a host of top European clubs including the likes Barcelona, but now it seems that the times are a changing. Monaco, the Principality based club, who have gone into a crazy streak of signing top players in Europe for hefty amounts of money, are now chasing the Dane and will reportedly offer the player a four year deal to relocate, according to the French newspaper L’Equipe.

Agger, who was at the heart of Liverpool’s defence last season turning out 35 times for the club, is known to show his affection towards the fans quite publicly. The Dane recently inscribed the Liverpool slogan YNWA (You'll Never Walk Alone) on his knuckles to show his commitment to the club. But, as we all know the sad relationship of money and football in today’s world, loyalty is something that is very rare in footballers today, and Agger might be no such exception.

The price which Monaco have offered and the player’s wages have not been reported by the French newspaper, but is believed to be extremely lucrative for Agger. It is common knowledge that Agger is one of the best center backs playing in England and such interest from rich and top ranking clubs of Europe is not surprising.

The player is tied to the Anfield-based club till June 2016 and has repeatedly stated his desire to play out his entire career with Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers and all of the Anfield faithful must be crossing their fingers upon hearing this news, hoping that the Dane would stay on at the club even if a lucrative offer from France arrives. With Agger being a strong candidates for the vice-captaincy role and a senior player at the club now, Liverpool will hope the player finds enough motivation to play for them throughout his career.
