Arsenal might soon fall prey to the woes they are notoriously susceptible to – losing stars. In reports that could spell only disappointment and problems for Arsene Wenger, The Sun has said that German club Borussia Dortmund might have become interested in Gunners’ forward Lukas Podolski.

The German side have failed to get their hands on any silverware this season despite an exceptional performance by European standards, losing out each time to their more fancied neighbours, Bayern Munich. And now, Coach Jurgen Klopp has more problems as he prepares for life after Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski, leaving Borussia with a severely depleted strike force. Klopp would be interested in finding a comrade for Marco Reus, someone who can form a strong partnership with the 24 year old up front, and that’s where Podolski comes into the frame.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger would prefer not losing the 27 year old, who has netted 16 goals (and provided 11 assists) for his club in 42 appearances this season. Although the stats are not overly impressive, the Frenchman would still want the German to be a part of his squad at the Emirates, as he is only likely to get better as he gets more accustomed to the English game. Although a few weeks back it was being speculated that Podolski might lose out on being a first team starter, his exploits towards the end of the season have certainly done their bit to earn him back a permanent place. With Gervinho not being in the best of form, and Giroud missing through suspension, it was Podolski who spearheaded the attack in the last four games of the season, and showed the could lead the line with aplomb.

The veteran German International has since attracted the attention of clubs like Juventus and Galatasaray, with Dortmund being the most recent name to feature in the list. He is however reported to be content with life at Arsenal and Arsene Wenger would hope to see these interests waning.
