Monaco seems to have commenced the trend of breaking English hearts, courtesy of their coffers that are overflowing with gold. The cash laden club is reported to be on the verge of signing Radamel Falcao and Victor Valdes, after the dual coup of James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho from Porto, reported ESPN.

Falcao and his agent Jorge Mendes are reported to be scheduled for a meeting today with Monaco owner Dmitry Rybolovlev to discuss his future at the club. There were reports previously too, of the Colombian being linked to the club, which he had himself dismissed as baseless. However, with winds of change favouring the French, Falcao was reported to have travelled to the club yesterday for his medical, which in turn means that a confirmation of his deal in the near future is almost assured.

The Ligue 1 side have fulfilled Falcao’s buyout clause of €60 million in their bid for the scintillating striker, and it is reported that they have also agreed on €50 million wages for the 27 year old, spread over a five-year period.

There are also reports of Barcelona’s 31 year old shotstopper Victor Valdes being set to join Monaco. French news agency Agence France Press reported that the Spaniard is also in France today to hold talks with the Ligue 1 club over his deal. Monaco are now believed to be the favourites to sign the goalkeeper, who had expressed his desire to leave his  boyhood club.

Meanwhile, the news of these two transfers could spell heartbreak for millions of Premier League fans worldwide. Falcao was believed to be on the wishlist of both Manchester United and Chelsea, while Arsenal were expected to be the favourites to land in Victor Valdes this summer, to add more experience to their goalkeeping department. All three Premier League sides will be concerned at the amazing rise of Monaco as a French powerhouse, especially given that United were also previously chasing Rodriguez, while Chelsea were keen on signing Moutinho.
