An exceptional unbeaten century from South African import David Miller powered the Kings XI Punjab to an unlikely 6 wicket win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali. Miller smashed an incredible 101 from just 38 balls to lead his side to an unexpected 6 wicket win with 2 full overs to spare.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore were put into bat, and won the first 30 overs of this contest, having posted a massive 190-3 on the back of half-centuries from their openers, Chris Gayle (61) and the returning Cheteshwar Pujara (51).

While Pujara played himself into some form at the top of the order, Gayle was at his destructive best, smashing 3 sixes and 6 fours to post 61 in just 33 balls before Manpreet Gony removed both the openers.

Though Virat Kohli fell for a run a ball 14, AB de Villiers came to the party as usual, and hammered 38 from just 19 balls to add the finishing touches to the RCB score.

The visitors then came out and were dominating with the ball too, reducing Punjab to 64-4 at the midway stage of the innings with Murali Kartik nabbing a couple of wickets.

David Miller in the company of R Sathish (27*) attempted to rebuild the innings, and Kings XI got a huge slice of luck when Virat Kohli dropped Miller on 41, missing a skier. RCB were forced to pay heavily for the error as Miller embarked on the most amazing of innings, launching the ball into orbit with gay abandon, smashing 7 sixes and 8 boundaries to notch up the third fastest century in IPL history.

The win reignites Punjab's hopes in the tournament, taking them to 10 points leaving them just 4 shy of a quartet holding places 2-5 in the IPL standings.
