The Pune Warriors picked themselves up from the foot of the IPL table with a morale boosting 7-wicket win against the previously unbeaten Rajasthan Royals at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune.

Batting first on winning the toss, the Royals posted an under par 145-5 in their 20 overs on the back of yet another half century from veteran skipper Rahul Dravid. Some excellent bowling from Pune's spin twins Rahul Sharma and Yuvraj Singh helped the hosts pick up 4 wickets for just 43 runs in the middle overs and keep Rajasthan down to a manageable score.

Pune's chase in contrast got off to an electrifying start with Robin Uthappa (32) and Aaron Finch (64) going after the bowling from the get go, and sharing a 58 run stand inside 5 overs to set their side well on the road to victory.

Finch almost saw his side past the finish line, and shared useful partnerships with Ross Taylor (17) and Yuvraj Singh (28*) as Pune cruised to an easy win, and perhaps more crucially picked up their first points of IPL 2013.

James Faulkner was the only Rajasthan bowler to win any plaudits, picking up 2-17 from his 4 overs, while S Sreesanth had a night to forget, conceding 38 runs from just 2.4 overs.

Pune do have a tough road trip to look ahead to as they head off to meet neighbours Mumbai in the early kick-off on Saturday, while Rajasthan are likely to enjoy the return to home comforts where they will take on the Kings XI Punjab.
