Australian Bernard Tomic wowed the Apia International Sydney crowd on Thursday night with a 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-2 win over defending champion Jarkko Nieminen, moving him into the semifinals.

“It's really good to win a match like this.  Physically I'm still pretty good.  I'm getting ready for tomorrow right now,” said Tomic. “This is a big chance for me to do well here.  Hopefully I can keep going.”

In other night action, Andreas Seppi marched into the semifinals with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Marcel Granollers.

Last year’s finalist Julien Benneteau continues to impress in Sydney, winning 6-4, 6-2 against qualifier Ryan Harrison and unseeded Kevin Anderson also moved into the last four with a comfortable 6-4, 6-3 win over Denis Istomin on Grandstand.

Top seed Agnieszka Radwanska continued her outstanding start to the season advancing to the women’s final with a decisive 6-3, 6-4 victory over 2011 champion Li Na.

“It's always hard to say, but I think of course winning two tournaments in a row is a good score and a good thing, so for sure I'm ready for Australian Open,” said Radwanska, who moved her record to 7-0 on the season.

Hard-hitting Dominika Cibulkova triumphed 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 over second seed Angelique Kerber in a gutsy performance on Centre Court to become only the fifth unseeded player since 1990 to make the women’s final.

Radwanska, the current world No.4, has never lost to the tenacious world No.15 Cibulkova in their three previous meetings.

Following the singles final, world No.1 doubles team Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci will face off against Nadia Petrova and Katarina Srebotnik in the women’s doubles final.
