Yet another day begins with a fresh titbit in the Theo Walcott saga as the Sunday Mail report that the winger’s current injury could delay the contract talks until the New Year, by when Walcott will be allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club. Walcott’s agent was supposed to sit down with Arsenal to ascertain if the club was prepared to increase their £80k-a-week offer but as things stand both parties continue to be in a stand-off.

The Gunners' fans do have some positive news to light up their dour day as the Sunday Mirror reports that Bayern Munich’s Brazilian midfield general Luis Gustavo is a target for Arsene Wenger. The 25 year old is rumoured to be unhappy at the lack of first-team action, thus opening the door for a possible £10m exit. To clarify, Argentina’s Arsenal de Sarandi posses a highly courted centre-back in the 23 year old Lopez and his agent revealed that English giants Arsenal have joined AC Milan and Valencia in enquiring about the defender. Like most mid-tier clubs West Ham are getting nervous as January approaches as they desperately try to hold on to their best players. Sam Allardyce revealed to the Daily Mail that he would be powerless to stop Mohamed Diame from leaving Upton Park should his release clause be met by another club, a fact revealed by West Ham owner David Gold earlier in the day. Diame has been in sparkling form since joining West Ham in the summer, even attracting interest from Arsenal.

Liverpool were sweating over the future of Luis Suarez only a few months back but the Uruguayan has since signed a long-term deal with the Reds and ESPN reports that the striker distanced himself from the links with Juventus, stating that although he was aware of the interest from the Italian Champions he had no intention of leaving Anfield anytime soon. -new

On the subject of Liverpool’s attack force, there were surprising reports yesterday which claimed that the Merseyside giants were interested in Georgios Samaras of all people.
