Former Arsenal captain and Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said that he is eager to play against his former teammates in the first knockout stage of the Champions League.
With Arsenal finishing second in their group, Arsenal could face Barcelona, the Group G winners. Speaking at a event in Barcelona on Thursday, the Spanish midfielder shared that he would be delighted to square off against Arsenal because of "the affection and affinity" he has with the club.
Fabregas also added, "I would be very excited to see the people with whom I lived for so many years. It would be a very special tie."
Fabregas spent a huge part of his youth playing for Arsenal, with more than 300 appearances for the Gunners in his eight year long stay at the club, and is still held in very high regard by the Arsenal fans.
The Champions League draw, which will decide the pairing of the teams for the next round of the competition, is set to take place on December 20th.
Arsenal fans though will not be sharing Fabregas' desire for a reunion, and will instead be hoping that for quite the contrary, with Barcelona one of the favourites to win the competition.
