Newcastle's star striker Demba Ba could be on his way out of the club after talks to renew his contract stalled.

The Senegalese frontman has already scored 10 goals in the Premier League this season, and is integral to manager Alan Pardew's plans, but Newcastle fans have to face an anxious wait as many clubs are vying for his signature, and may activate the £7.5 million release clause. The good news is that the 27 year old is keen to remain at the club, but if things are not sorted out quickly, Newcastle may lose one of their most important players.

"The truth of it is that Demba has got a clause in his contract and it is still hanging over us," Pardew said. "We have tried to negotiate a way and we have not managed to do that as yet."

Top clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool though are keen to meet the release clause. Ba is said to be unhappy with the new wages being offered to him by the Newcastle management, and it would be the perfect opportunity for Arsene Wenger to swoop in and sign the player by meeting his demand for a 60,000 pounds per week contract.

Ba has just a year left on his contract, and if Newcastle do not sort out the matter, it may strike them hard, with the side already languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table despite the Senegalese striker's heroics.
