28 year old Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder has rejected a new contract offer from Italian club Internazionale.  The long drawn contract talks have been reported as finally concluded and that Sneijder wasn’t going to agree on the new contract terms put forward by the Italian giants. It is believed that the Dutchman had earlier refused to take a pay cut in his new contract with club following which he wasn’t picked in the starting line-up for the team.

Sneijder is evidently disappointed at his recent exclusion from the team which has seen him play just 5 times for Inter in Serie A this season. He was quoted after a contract meeting with clubs manager and executives as saying, “At this moment in time, I have no reason to sign. How can I accept a new contract under these conditions when I am not even playing?"

When questioned further about the details he wasn’t in the mood to divulge them and said, “I don't really have the desire to speak. Something will be released later this afternoon. I've always been happy at Inter.”

Inter Milan too have been stubborn in their stance and have maintained that they have resolved the matter and the result is good for the club. Technical Director of the club, Marco Branca was later quoted as saying, “We're pleased because the meeting went well, especially for Inter.”

This break down of contract talks could alert other clubs, including English Premier League giants Manchester United, who have previously expressed their desire to the sign the midfield ace. United have been linked in the past with the Dutchman and might want to capitalize on this situation to seal the deal.
