Roman Abramovich’s obsession to make his £50 million investment work for him is hemorrhaging Chelsea as Spanish striker Fernando Torres continues to remain impotent in front of goal. The arrival of Rafael Benitez has done little to boost the striker’s confidence and it seems as though even the Russian oligarch is growing weary of El Nino’s promise.
The Sunday People has reported that Anzhi Makhachkala are looking to provide the former Liverpool star a way out of his nightmare at the Bridge with a competitive bid for his services. Guus Hiddink is the current manager at Anzi and his friendship with Roman has made him sympathise with the billionaire’s plight. Sport Director at Anzhi, Roberto Carlos, is also pushing the board to submit a bid to land the Spanish International.
Fernando Torres is trying hard to save his career in England and regain the laurels he’d earned at Liverpool. A source close to the striker told journalists, “Nobody from Chelsea has told him he will be sold but but it’s normal that the club are not satisfied with his perfomances.
“But the person affected most by all this is the player. Nando is conscious that he is not offering his best level.â€
