Tottenham will have a tough time keeping hold of their youngsters Alex Pritchard and Shaquille Coulthirst with Barcelona and Real Madrid both reportedly keen on sign up the duo after their scintillating performances in the NextGen series, the youth equivalent of the Champions League.
Striker Coulthirst scored thrice in Spurs’ 4-1 victory over Barcelona, while midfielder Pritchard scored the fourth. The Tottenham stars are joint top scorers in the tournament with 4 goals each to their names. The youngsters have played a key role in taking Spurs to the top of Group 1 in the NextGen Series.
19 year-old Pritchard’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season but following his scintillating performances in the competition, Tottenham will be keen on tying down the starlet with a long term deal at White Hart Lane. Spurs had received a summer bid from QPR but they had wisely turned down the offer.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are known for their excellent coaching academies and they will be prepared to spend heavily to add the young talent to their squad. AVB is looking for long term success with Tottenham and the manager is unlikely to allow the promising stars to leave the club, and he should be able to offer the youngsters a quicker transition to the first team to tempt them out of a move to the Spanish giants.
