The world's #13-ranked men's tennis player and top North American on the ATP World Tour, Milos Raonic, today announced the launch of The Milos Raonic Foundation. The charitable foundation, which is registered with the Canada Revenue Agency, will create and support initiatives to reduce economic, physical, and other barriers that may prevent disadvantaged children from becoming healthy, productive members of society. Preliminarily, the organization will focus on children with physical disabilities and, especially, children in need of prosthetic devices that will enable them to reach their full potential.
"I'm very excited and honored to be able to launch my foundation this year," said Raonic. "To have the opportunity to allow my foundation to grow and establish itself along with my tennis career is a true honor and privilege for me. I will enjoy the support and help I can provide for many years."
The foundation will host its first fundraising event – BMO Raonic Race for Kids – in conjunction with Tennis Canada's "Let's Make Tennis Matter for Kids" campaign, on Thursday, November 15 at The Toronto Lawn Tennis Club. Ten teams, each co-captained by a celebrity guest and Toronto Lawn member, will compete in a series of circuit-style challenges. Daniel Nestor, Serena Williams, and Andy Roddick will also participate in the festivities.
