Liverpool's lack of options upfront are well publicised and it comes as no surprise that a host of young and upcoming attackers are being linked with the English outfit. More recently, the Daily Star has linked Serbian attacker Filip Duricic to Anfield in a £4 million move from SC Heervenveen in the January transfer window. The 20 year old comes highly recommended and his presence alongside Luiz Suarez in Liverpool’s line-up will surely provide them a huge boost.
Despite his tender age, Duricic has had an interesting career since he began playing professionally in Serbia’s lower leagues. In January 2009 the attacking midfielder underwent a trial with Manchester United, only losing out on a contract owing to a work permit. One might presume that the Red Devils are keeping a close eye on Duricic, waiting for the right time to pounce on the player.
Liverpool’s form in the Barclays Premier League has been appalling to say the least and the few results that they have managed to muster have come largely due to the efforts of Luiz Suarez. Brendan Rodgers runs the risk of burning out his controversial star and one would hope that the gaffer is working tirelessly to get his hands on someone to relieve the workload.
