Despite their lack of trophies in recent seasons, London giants Arsenal continue to been linked with several promising youngsters, and are still regarded as arguably the best 'finishing school' in the country. One of those players is Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha. The 19-year old has made 109 appearances already and has also found the back of the net 14 times in that duration.
According to reports in the Daily Mirror, the Gunners will lodge a bid of around £7 million in the January transfer window. However, that bid is unlikely to be enough to persuade Crystal Palace into selling into one of their most promising prospects, especially since the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea are also believed to be interested in him, and will probably be willing to pay a lot more.
However, the aforementioned daily goes on to add that should a bid for Zaha be rejected, then Arsene Wenger will make a move for QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt. The 23-year old has scored 31 goals in 128 appearances for QPR and would be more than willing to move, given Arsenal's stature as a club.
However, fans may not take too kindly to Taarabt, given the fact that he used to be on the rolls of arch rivals Tottenham. Despite this though, one does feel that Taarabt has enough quality to succeed at a club like Arsenal, although given QPR's own financial clout, he is unlikely to be allowed to leave without a substantial fee changing hands.
Fans might well remember that Arsenal were linked with Taarabt at the start of the 2011-12 season as well, but a move for the Moroccan failed to materialize.
