Ukrainian keeper Igor Berezovsky has been garnering serious attention from all over Europe after a series of superb performances for second division club Obolon Kiev. Premier League big spenders Chelsea and Manchester City join German giants Bayern Munich in the fight for the 22 year-old’s signature, reported the Mirror.
The stopper stands tall at 6’4†and has been a regular feature of the Ukrainian Under-21 side. The player is soon expected to break into the national team in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Several top clubs have been alerted to the young keeper's availability and Obolon Kiev can expect a major cash inflow should they agree to sell the highly-rated player.
Bayern are looking to expand their options despite Manuel Neuer continuing to impress in goal for the Germans. Chelsea, on the other hand, have bern searching for a long-term solution as Petr Cech has crossed 30 and the Czech’s performances have been erratic this season. City are merely looking to add a backup to star keeper Joe Hart and the English champions will certainly drive up the asking price for Berezovsky with their interest.
Chelsea are most in need of new stoppers although Thibaut Courtois has been impressive in his loan spell with Atletico Madrid and is likely to succeed Cech in the years to come. However, Berezovsky’s skills merit a place with one of Europe’s elite sides and the young stopper could be snapped up by a top club in the winter transfer window.
