German midfield star Lewis Holtby has entered his final year of contract with FC Schalke and the player’s agent Markus Noack has admitted that the 22 year-old has offers from English and Spanish clubs which he could consider when the transfer window opens this January.
A youth product of second division German club Alemannia Aachen, the 22 year-old is said to be negotiating a contract extension with Schalke, whom he joined in 2009. However, the midfielder could be convinced to revisit his decision as offers from England and Spain have begun to come in for Holtby. The player is a fan of Premier League side Everton although their Merseyside rivals Liverpool have been credited with an interest in the midfielder, reported Sky Sports.
“We are talking with Schalke about a possible extension for another three years. Talks are going well at the moment but the situation has definitely changed in the last period because several offers from Spain and England came in,†confirmed Noack in an interview with calciomercato.com. “Lewis is very good at Schalke but above all there is an English club which has made a very interesting proposal.â€
Noack also denied rumours of an approach from Inter Milan and added that Holtby was keener towards a move to either England or Spain. Although Schalke are certainly a big club, the player is unlikely to turn down the offer to move to England or Spain should a big club come calling for his signature in the coming transfer window.
