Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has been garnering serious attention from all over Europe since the arrival of Robin van Persie over the summer saw him fall down the pecking order at Old Trafford. Now Fiorentina are planning an £8 million swoop for the forward next summer.

Hernandez joined the Red Devils in 2010 and since his arrival, the Mexican international had successfully risen above Dimitar Berbatov to feature prominently in the starting eleven at Old Trafford. However, a poor run due to form and injuries, and the emergence of Danny Welbeck lost 'The Little Pea' his starting berth, and the arrival of Van Persie now sees Hernandez face a similar fate as Berbatov did last season. Despite having been linked with a shock move to Premier League rivals Arsenal, it appears that Fiorentina are also in the running to sign the disgruntled forward at the end of this seaspm, reported the Daily Star.

The Serie A side are also willing to match the Mexican striker’s £80,000-a-week wages, something that could be an issue if he would look for an alternative club in England. The player has managed just three starts for United this season and if his first team involvement continues to decrease, he could be compelled to quit the 19-time league champions.

When questioned about his United future recently, Hernandez said, “My challenge is to play and win titles with Manchester United.”

Although United have four years on their current deal with the Mexican international, Sir Alex Ferguson would not mind offloading the star for the right price next year. Fiorentina have been making big strides in Europe as they aim to make a return to the Champions League soon. The Italians purchased a host of big name players including Alberto Aquilani, David Pizarro, Stefan Savic, Borja Valero and Luca Toni over the summer and the move for Hernandez could make them one of the big names in Serie A in the years to come.
