Arsene Wenger has praised summer signing Santi Cazorla for his impact at Arsenal and the French boss believes that the player could achieve super stardom for his similarity in style to former Spurs great Glenn Hoddle. Wenger believes that the Spaniard could soon become a fan favourite after a string of top class performances for the Gunners.
The Spanish import displayed his best form on Saturday as Arsenal beat hosts West Ham 3-1 with Cazorla netting Arsenal’s third goal of the night with a beautiful long-range shot that curled into the net.
“Cazorla is like Glenn Hoddle is some ways,†Wenger commented in an interview quoted on ESPN Soccernet. “Left-footed, right-footed, you could not say what he was and Cazorla is similar. I don't remember anyone else I have worked with who was as two-footed and it is so important to have this quality in the modern game. It looks like he will be the new favourite of the Arsenal fans as they can appreciate his quality.â€
Wenger worked with Hoddle during his managerial stint with Monaco and believes that the 27 year-old midfielder has the potential to become a legend akin to the Spurs icon. Gunners loyalists are unlikely to share Wenger’s opinions of the former Tottenham star, but they will surely give Cazorla his due credit for his top notch performances in an Arsenal jersey.
