Most Manchester United fans will be pardoned for never having hear of Italian Serie B side Sassuolo, but that may not be the case for much longer with the Red Devils having identified their 18-year old striker Domenico Berardi as a player to keep an eye on this season.

Berardi has had a good start to the 2012-13 season, and is an Italy youth international. The Daily Mirror reports that Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a liking to the youngster and has asked scouts to prepare a dossier on the player.

United have already invested in youth this summer, having procured two prodigious attacking talents in Angelo Henriquez and Nick Powell, and a bid for Berardi may be forthcoming soon. The Red Devils will need to move quickly if they are to lure the player away from Italy, with top clubs in the nation quick to latch on to the opportunity to nab talent using co-ownership agreements.

It will be interesting though to see if Berardi himself would be open to a move to United, especially considering the lack of game time compatriot Federico Macheda has seen at Old Trafford, despite having a glorious start to his career with the club.
