Sir Alex Ferguson's injury nightmare got worse after Shinji Kagawa pulled out of Japan's World Cup qualifier against Iraq with a back problem, which has now put him in serious doubt for Saturday's game against Wigan and even the Champions League opener versus Galatasaray next week.
ESPN reports that the midfielder was ruled out of Japan's game an hour before kick-off due to the strain he reportedly picked up in training the previous day. United are already without Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young and the loss of Kagawa might force Sir Alex to revert back to a more traditional 4-4-2 formation.
Back on the subject of injuries, Jonny Evans hasn’t pleased the manager by turning up for Northern Ireland last weekend and to make things worse, the defender aggravated his ankle injury but still played through entire game with a heavily strapped ankle. Sir Alex hasn’t been able to name a fully fit defence all season long and the situation looks set to continue, especially after Phil Jones was recently ruled out for 8 weeks.Newer news items:
