Spurs make shock enquiry for Marouane Chamakh

It appears that Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh still has the odd admirer in North London, and he sits in the enemies dugout with the Mirror reporting this morning that Andre Villas-Boas has registered an interest with Arsenal on loan.

Tottenham's striker crisis is well documented with Jermain Defoe the only senior striker on their books, and even though a move for Emmanuel Adebayor is expected to be completed this week, one has no clue what kind of condition the Togolese striker is in considering that he has not played in any pre-season games whatsoever.

Even if Spurs do complete the capture of Adebayor, they are at the very least 1 if not 2 men short in the striking department, and would need a quick fix solution. However, one can't help but wonder what kind of backlash AVB would get for turning towards an Arsenal reject.

Arsenal have struggled to offload Chamakh all summer with his £60,000 wages proving to be a major stumbling block when clubs have inquired about his availability. While the Gunners would no doubt prefer an outright sale, it seems that Tottenham are only interested in a loan deal.

Surprisingly, Everton are also rumoured to be interested in signing Chamakh, but it remains to be seen whether they will follow through on this having just landed Belgian striker Kevin Mirallas at the weekend.
