When it came to making the final call over his future, Robin Van Persie says he listened to 'the little boy inside him', while choosing which club to sign with after having decided to part ways with Arsenal after 8 years with the London club. Speaking at a press conference at his unveiling Van Persie said, "...when you have to make a hard decision in your life, I always listen to that little boy inside me. What does he want? That boy was screaming for Manchester United."
The Dutchman went on to explain how the appeal of everything at United contributed to his decision. He expressed his love for the game and believes United could be 'the perfect match' for him, seeming to suggest his move was one based on purely footballing reasons. This means United arguably possess the strongest forward line in the English league and are very much the favourites for securing their 20th top division title.
The 29-year old forward, who is the reigning PFA Players' Player of the year as well as Golden Boot winner from last season, had declared earlier this summer he wanted out from Arsenal and has since been the subject of much speculation, with Juventus and Manchester City having also shown interest for his services. Friday's events conclude a long-running transfer saga and fires up the new season to even higher anticipation.
