Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen on continuing his raid on Southampton, with the Saints' 17-year full-back Luke Shaw on their radar.
The duo of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both came through the youth system at the St. Mary's Stadium before moving to the Gunners, and Shaw could be following them this summer, after impressing Wenger in a pre-season friendly against Dutch giants Ajax.
Wenger has been receiving rave reviews about the player, and had the teenager scouted on Sunday according to reports in the Daily Mirror, when Shaw put up a confident performance despite seeing his team lose 1-0.
Shaw, who made his first-team debut in the FA Cup only last season, has other admirers as well, as Chelsea reportedly had a £4 million offer for the defender turned down earlier in the summer by the Saints.
Wenger however is keen on swooping for the player now, rather than see Shaw's price grow in the coming seasons before making a move for him.
Shaw is expected to play a role in Southampton's first season back in the top-flight since 2005, this after the Saints gained automatic promotion to the Premier League by finishing in second in the Championship last term.
