Russian club Zenit St Petersburg are looking at signing the English Premier League duo of Martin Skrtel and Dimitar Berbatov to strengthen their team, according to reports.

Liverpool are keen to tie up their Slovakian centre half with a new contract, but with no definite moves yet, there has been much interest in the 27 year old, with Napoli and Manchester City also potential suitors for the player. Russian champions Zenit are supposedly ready to offer £14 million and a £110,000 per week deal to Skrtel to bring him back to the club, having originally sold him in 2008 to Liverpool for £6.5 million, reports the Daily Mail.

Russian newspaper Life Sports meanwhile has reported that Zenit have talked with Dimitar Berbatov's agent Emil Danchev, and could sign him on a two year deal worth £3.9 million. The Manchester United striker is unhappy at Old Trafford, mostly due to the lack of first team chances given to him, as he is below Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez in the pecking order.

However, Zenit may face competition for Berbatov's signature, with AC Milan interested in the striker as a replacement for Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic. It is reported that Berbatov, who is United's record signing, will be available for a negligible fee of £5 million pounds.

Zenit have also been linked with Arsenal for a while now, and a reportedly also preparing an offer to bring Andrei Arshavin back to the club on a permanent basis, having taken the Russian playmaker on loan for the second half of last season.
